Members of Ansar Al-Din opened a door that hasn’t been opened for 600 years in the yard of the Sidi Yahiya mosque in “Ba’Jindi” neighborhood before a crowd of people. The door was called “Bab Al-Qiyama – Door of the Day of Judgment”. The door was one of the tourist destinations in the city of Timbuktu.
The imam of the mosque told Sahara Media that Ansar Al-Din told him they were going to open the door, and “he didn’t any option but to obey them and open the door”.
Abu Turab, a member of Ansar Al-Din, confirmed that what happened “a type of ending the manifestations of superstition and innovation and a pretext that might lead to polytheism”, and he added: “we heard that there is a door in the yard of the ancient Sidi Yahiya mosque if it was opened the Day of Judgment will occur, but when we investigated the matter we know that it was a canceled door in the yard of the mosque of the ancient mosque so dust piled on the it so it was blocked”.
And he ensured that Ansar Al-Din “fear that these superstitions will creep to the Aqeeda of the ordinary people and they think that this is true because of the ignorance and being away from religion, so we decided to open it then we will rebuild it properly to ensure the public interest of the religion and the people”, according to him.
