Ansar Al-Din movement began to implement the Islamic Sharia in the city of Timbuktu.
Two of the leaders of the movement told Al-Jazeera.net that until now they implemented the Sharia penalties ‘Hudud’ on about 20 who were arrested in the past days for violations and aggressions that made it obligatory to implement it on them.
The leader - who chose not to give his name – the last to have a Haad implemented on him was a drunker who was arrested last night after he began to shoot in the air because of drunkenness.
Also members of the movement invited Al-Jazeera.net to attend with them raiding one of the hotels of the city which they accused of being a den for prostitution, alcohol and drugs.
Mohammed Al-Amin – a member of the movement who participated in the raid and extracting the drugs and alcohol from the hotel - said: “This relates to the most important weapons that are used by the enemies of Allah to spoil the morals and repelling them from their religion”, before he set his foot on an African statue who he described as an idol that should be broken.
In addition one of the members of the movement told Al-Jazeera.net that they will increase implementing the Hudud: ‘Ansar Al-Din will implement the Hudud of the Sharia, but in the same time it will conduct a comprehensive awareness process about the danger of the violations because many people for their estrangement from the Sharia of Allah need notice and guidance and awareness’.
